Temple Bar’s annual (?) TradFest kicks off this week with gigs and events happening around the city’s “cultural quarter”. As part of the whole traditional Irish music knees-up, there’ll be an exhibition of photography by Castle Ceili Band flute player, Mick O’Connor in Studio 6 of Temple Bar Gallery & Studios from January 27th – 31st. Maybe this is only for photography nerds and/or trad music obsessives and historians, but it looks like a nice little collection and stretches back to 1901 apparently. If you’re around the area later this week, you could do worse than pop upstairs to Studio 6 and see photos of people like this happy chap above in a nice, bright room overlooking Temple Bar Square. Obviously, there’s an uileann-pipe-load of gigs happening between Wednesday and Sunday as part of the festival in Project Arts Centre, The Button Factory and presumably, every pub in sight.
